Distribution Centres and Warehousing ~

“The Midlands is fast becoming a vortex for the logistics sector as more and more multinationals are drawn to the region. Location is key as to why the distribution giants are attracted to the area as a base.”

Location is key to ESG’S support of the busy logistics sector. Our Main Office located in South Birmingham means we are at the heart of the UK motorway network and rail freight links; where the majority of our logistic clients want to be. In addition, one of our subsidiary offices on the South Coast is ideally placed to provide intimate support to the seaports and national distributors / suppliers’ links to the EU.

Our vast experience in guarding distribution depots, hubs and warehouses means we can provide cost conscious and innovative solutions to our logistic sector clients’.

For many people a distribution centre or warehouse is simply a large building, this is a gross oversimplification. As well as storage areas, most warehouses will also include loading bays, office accommodation, workshops and an area for lorry parking and car parking. Depending on whether the warehouse handles containers, pallets or smaller items, high bay racking or other shelving may be required, together with the appropriate types of forklift trucks or automated materials handling systems to move goods around. A computerised stock control system is also likely to be essential. If food or pharmaceutical items are being stored, refrigerated or air conditioned storage areas may also be required.

Security and fire safety are always important issues in warehouses and insurers will insist on secure doors, intruder detection and fire alarms, floodlighting, emergency lighting, sprinkler systems, CCTV and often on-site security personnel to monitor the premises around the clock.

This is where ESG can deliver expert services with tailor made solutions to specific warehouses or distribution centres. Our areas of expertise include:
